Will Power

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will."– Vincent Lombardi

So, got some news for you: Will power is a myth.

But a will to change could be the missing ingredient in your weight loss journey. As a trainer, I know I need to eat well and stay in shape. As a triathlete, I know I need to say no to certain temptations in order to perform well. That being said, put a plate of brownies in front of me or stick some gummy worms in my pocket and consider them both gone in record time. I know my limits, and if certain items come within a few feet of me, I will devour them.

So, ask yourself: Do you really want to lose weight and be thin? Really? Its a lot of pressure to lose weight. People will start expecting things from yo when you accomplish a goal. Did you see Daris on the Biggest Loser a few weeks back give up during the challenge against Koli? Then he went home for 30 days and GAINED 2 pounds? He sabotaged himself. His psyche is still messed up, and even though he looks fantastic he is still sabotaging himself!

What you need to do to stop sabotaging yourself:

  1. Set up boundaries. Know your limits and make rules for yourself. If you have a problem drinking after a certain time, then leave. If you will eat the rest of that apple pie at 2 in the morning, get rid of it before it is too late.
  2. Check the unhealthy friendships at the door. Obesity is contagious. What overweight person likes to hear about all the amazing things he or she is missing out on because of their weight? This is not easy to do, but you can not play in the dirt and stay clean. Again, know your limits.
  3. Make a plan and include a goal. "I have always wanted to do a marathon." Really? Is that you? THen stop reading right now and go for a jog. The time is now- you are not getting any younger or any thinner!

There are, of course, many many other things you could do to stop sabotaging yourself, so figure them out and do it! No one like s a loser-especially a elf-made loser. Let's hear it, what have you done in the past to sabotage your weight loss? Leave a comment below.
